You Do Not Know Your Unique Ability®
Page 45

This is a concept created by Dan Sullivan, founder of The Strategic Coach® Program. Essentially it states that everyone has a “Unique Ability®” - that thing which gives you energy, the thing that you could do all day long and never get tired. You can identify it most easily by asking other people who know you personally a series of questions about what you do well and what you do with little or no effort.

The theory goes that once you can articulate this “Ability”, you then make it your mission in life to focus all of your daily efforts doing those activities that draw on your Unique Ability® and you build a team around you whose Unique Abilities are the things that you hate to do.

As a business owner, your goal should be to focus on those activities that give you energy. Focus on that which you are naturally good at and surround yourself with people who gain an equal amount of energy and satisfaction from doing the activities that you personally hate.

IN THE BOOK I discuss the importance of not only knowing what your strengths are but how to exploit them for the benefit of your business.

One Possible Solution Offered in The Termite Effect:

  • Take a style or personality test such as Kolbe, Extended DISC, or Myers-Briggs. This is all about self-actualization. If you do not know yourself, you will not be much good to your employer or your employees.
