Mistake #3
You Cannot Identify What Success Looks Like
Page 21

What does success look like to you?

I realize this question may sound elementary, but you would be surprised how many people cannot answer it. When I ask business owners this question, I usually get a vague response such as, “I want to make more money” or “we want to improve our sales”. Don’t get me wrong, those are legitimate goals but I purposely use a broad term, “success”, in order to dig a little deeper.

Once you have identified what long-term success looks like, work backward and make sure you are filling your work days only with activities that will march you toward your ultimate goal of success.

Constantly ask yourself, “is the activity I am doing right now ultimately going to lead me to my stated goals?” If the answer is “No”, reallocate your time to activities that will.

IN THE BOOK I walk you through a powerful exercise to help you begin the process of developing your own definition of success.

One Possible Solution Offered in The Termite Effect:

  • Employ regular planning sessions with your team, advisors, coach, and/or accountability partner(s) and review your goals regularly.
